The night Mick won the Quiksilver Pro the crew gathered to celebrate. Quite a few crew. All of them, actually. Joel and Mick shared a few beers and had a chat about the weeks ahead and the likelihood of the title coming back to Cooly one way or the other. The rest of the crew? Well, see for yourself. With the contest finishing a week early and no waves on the horizon, things got a little weird. But while Mick might have won the contest, he lost the one that really counts… the annual Hossegor Gift. Run over a 40m course out the front of the Cafe de Paris, Mick was no match for his good mate, the man mountain that is Kelso. Possessing “fast twitch fibres” in his legs, apparently, Kelso made White Lightning look like a rain cloud.
