September 17, 2009 at 4:21 amYou may not remember that we had a chance meeting at the Noosa North Shore pub. You were on the way home from a friend’s bucks party. I bailed you up for an autograph for my 4 year old nephew who was critically ill in hospital with a brain tumor. I grabbed a Crown Lager coaster and you obliged with your signature. Kai passed away thirteen days later and I didn’t get the chance to give him the coaster but I told him the story. In the end the only thing that he would show reaction to was music and stories from his Dad about you defeating Mick Fanning. You were his favourite and his Dad ,Scott, holds that coaster very dearly to his heart now as a memory of stories shared with his son. We are hosting a fund raiser for the Brisbane Royal Children’s Hospital music department on the 10th of October in memory of Kai and to support others not so lucky. Keeping proactive give you less time to think about it. Scott would be absolutely blown away if you donated something for the charity auction during the night. I’d love to keep it as a surprise. It would be really special to him. If this is not the way you operate, I understand. I’m sure you receive alot of requests. If anything, I really thought that you should know about the special part that you have played in the short but precious life of a 4 year old, about the little treasure that you gave me and the great significance that it will hold to my brother for the rest of his life. Thankyou.
