EAGLE? LOOKS LIKE A TURKEY…

Eagle? Looks like a turkey… from Joel Parkinson on Vimeo.

Earlier in the year Joel lost a bet to yours truly when his beloved Titans lost to my Dragons. The stakes? Surfing a lap of the point at J-Bay in boardshorts during the Billabong Pro in July. The water will be around 13 degrees, and it will not be fun. Foolishly, riding my luck, I made the same bet with Joel’s resident video guy, Kenny when my Dragons played Kenny’s Sea Eagles. Joel will now have company when he surfs his lap of the freezing pointbreak in boardies… me. The video above turned up in my inbox the morning after the Eagles won.

Kenny, you are a turkey.

Can’t wait for my toe to get better. It’s the toe I cut on my first wave in J-Bay two weeks ago and it’s just never healed. It got infected and the poison has spread round my body, so it knocked me round a little bit and I’ve been limping around like an old goat and unable to surf which has kinda been doing my head in. Luckily the surf has been pretty ordinary round home lately. Been pretty quiet at home with my crook toe, but it’s been good cause I’ve been able to get a lot of family time in.

We had Macy’s second birthday party at Rainbow Bay the other day. We just did a bacon and egg brekky barbecue in the park at Rainbow for her. We bought her this little motorised pink Jeep, and she was ripping in it, she loved it. The new Parkinson family vehicle. The thing fully drives with an accelerator and brake and the works, and Macy was just flooring it. That was until my cousin Mitch got hold of it. He’s about 50 kilos too heavy for it and I told him not to get in it, and sure enough he’s crashed it, the little pest. Just flipped the thing and straight away it starts making all these funny noises. Where do I take it? The mechanic or the toy shop?

On the Friday night we all went to the footy to watch the Titans play the Cowboys. Me, Dad, Daryl and Mitty went out to Skilled Stadium to watch the Titans, which was the first time all four of us have been out to a game. It was the full Park-off. Shame the Titans got smashed. I don’t know what the problem was there. Jonathon Thurston was wearing the wrong jumper I suppose, that’s the problem. It could be worse, I could be a Broncos fan, they’ve been getting hammered. Anyway, I got given my own new Queensland jumper out there with my name on it, which is going straight to the pool room.

Then we flew down to Sydney that weekend to hang with the Skenes – Mon’s sister Amy, my brother-in-law Skeney and their kids. It’s chaos when the four kids get together, but they had a ball. We decided to take them all to Disney on Ice on the Sunday and that was a laugh. I loved Snow White, she was pretty hot and ripping it up out there on the ice.
