SO FAR SO GOOD

Posted in Photos,World Tour

So far so good. My heat today at Snapper was a pretty interesting one. The tide was almost low by the time I paddled out and there were four foot sets out there, so it made for some interesting waves behind the rock at Snapper. Some of them were so square you had no chance of getting into them. You kind of had to wait and find one to let you in, but when you got one of them they were sick. It reminded me a lot of the finals day here in 2007. I surfed against Kekoa and my young mate Blake Ainsworth, and it was pretty close for most of the heat today but I always felt like I had it under control. Not my best heat ever, but it was solid and I felt good coming out of the water. It’s a relief to have that first heat out of the way and to get a win, because last year I lost my first heat at D-Bah and I had to visit the room of mirrors a bit… I went fishing for the day. The only casualty today was I creased one of my good boards, but I’ll take the win and the day off tomorrow.

I’m hearing the coverage on Fuel TV today was epic. If you can get in front of a TV with Fuel you should.

hey buddy! love seeing you updateing the blog contanstly! thats greatt
and you are right, it was really similar to the final days of the 07 contest. And actually the heat mick surfed he surfed really similar as he did in 2007. Making good barrels behind the rocks and doing some big hacks….really really similar! i thought the same

but i think in that year mick was surfing above everyone with a superior level, now seems different…even though the level now is very very very highh… its not just one guy, i mean, kelly ripped, you ripped, and some rookies did great as well…so it looks like its going to be very intersting

ps: and its just the 1st rounf MY GOODD

Way to go Parko! Use this (and yesterdays) Lay Day to rest up and stay loose (and off too many coolies). Come back strong on Thursday, Bud. Looking forward to seeing you rip it.
