November 25, 2009 at 11:38 pmDo you think that traveling with your fam and your support team has let you focus on your surfing more this year ? or has there been times where it has been a distraction on tour ? i mean the first half of the tour you were owning it and then it seemed like the fire inside had calmed a bit through the second half , like there was something else on your mind . although seems like you got the fire back big time now mate !!!

November 25, 2009 at 11:41 pmParko,
Have you ever ridden anything other than thrusters? What were your favorites? If you couldnt ride a thruster in a contest, what would you ride? Let’s say the contest is Haleiwa or Mundaka?
If you couldn’t be a pro surfer, what other career would you have or would you like to follow?
Cheers and Good Luck,
Alex

would you do mick fanning what slater did to shane beschen in the us open (huntington beach) years ago ?
ps: beschen caught a wave and slater who had the priority paddled behind him and put him in interference.
beschen didn’t see slater and never thought he was capable to do that .
hey parko
i think you problably won’t have the balls to answer this question but i still think you are a great surfer.

November 26, 2009 at 2:28 amDo you have an identical twin who’s hot like you but available? No, seriously…I have a question. In Israel, we get a lot of down-time where we’re without waves sometimes for weeks at a time. By the time the waves do come, I am out of shape and lost whatever skills I had picked up on my last surf trip. What kind of sports or activities can help me stay in shape AND improve on my surfing techniques? Skateboarding? Yoga?
P.s. I love your smile. Rooting for you at Pipe! Good luck, you Greek G-d you!

November 27, 2009 at 6:17 amJust hope it will be clear enough :
do you have any trick or mental visualization for working on posture and physical positioning through various phases of surfing ? (neutral stand by, turn and projection through turns, positionning of your arms, back, etc ?)
Is video helping a lot to improve efficiency and rendering ?
Thanks for the regular updates on this blog anyway

November 27, 2009 at 5:19 pmHey mate, when you were a grom how did you get yourself to surf waves you werent comfortable in like a heavy reef or just solid waves that you werent used to? I went out at my local beachie the other day and it was about 6 foot with some bigger sets and I couldnt bring my self to paddle into the sets and just caught the in between waves.

November 27, 2009 at 9:21 pmJoel,
Do you have a personal doctor or athletic therapist that travels with you from event to event to keep up with assessment and rehab of all your injuries? Or does billabong have a team doctor or athletic therapist that is present at the events to look after all the team’s athletes? Or is there simply an individual that is provided by the event sponsors?

November 28, 2009 at 1:07 amThere are thousands, maybe millions, of deaf (hearing impaired) surfers throughout the world. We’re more or less represented by International Deaf Surfriders Association (IDSA) – deafsurf.org, and our big frustration is that, apart from the surfing, we have no idea what is being said. We’d LOVE to have captions for all the surf flicks and so on. Do you have ideas for making the surfing world more accessible to us?

November 28, 2009 at 12:19 pmHey Parko!
There has always been reason to question the judging, ranging back to the andy kelly duke out. You have been surfing great up until your ankle injury and all the 17ths when Mick made a comeback outta nowhere. Although he’s one of your best mates, do you ever suppose the media/judges scores can be biased to possibly set up this title race to expose surf to the mainstream for more exposure?
Jimmy says:
November 29, 2009 at 5:33 amParko
What is the most important thing in a wave you look for when deciding to paddle into it. I’m interested because it was impressive watching you (and the other pros) surf at Kirra during the Quiky Pro this year when the majority of waves were shitty close outs. But you managed to pick the right one to get the 10-point ride.

November 30, 2009 at 3:33 pmHi Joel,
I have an idea for a new competition format.
It is a bit outside the square but I think it addresses some of the issues that I have recently heard you discuss in regards to the current state of surfing, namely providing more entertainment, shorter contests and a new points system transferable to the WQS.
I have sent it also to Mick Fanning’s management but I do not have an email address for yours, so I guess the easiest way to see it is to get it off him.
Thanks,
Josh McNamara

Yo Yo Yo says:
December 3, 2009 at 9:53 pmHave a go on a board with some vee up front, those concaves are ok but you deserve better..With the kind of style you have I suggest you try a couple..Vee fading to flat an inch before the fins then a bit more vee out the tail with real upright fins-not too much rake.
Move your fins forward an eighth of an inch, leave the tail fin where it is and enjoy a board that generates its own speed, turns on a dime and tube rides by itself.
Darren will never work that shit out by himself lol.
